The final exams for fall quarter included an unrehearsed dictation, but one that included words from the first quarter and some from previous dictations. So how did the students do on this? Amazingly well! In fact, the majority of students wrote with fewer mistakes that I would have expected. While this is anecdotal, I feel they did much better than what students wrote (not dictations necessarily) in the past. Will this skill transfer to their general writing? Curious minds want to know.
